Federal Certifications
Do I need Federal Certification?
To practice law in any Federal Court within the State of
Florida, whether at the trial or appellate level, you must
obtain admission into that court's bar. Therefore, if you
plan to practice, or work for a firm that practices, in
federal court, you must obtain admission into the requisite
federal courts.
What if I'm not sure whether I will practice in federal
court?
Even if you're not sure whether you will practice in federal
court, you should still obtain the federal certifications.
You will never have to turn down a federal case, give away
your own case that was removed to federal court, or not
get considered for a position because you're not admitted
in federal court. Additionally, both the time and cost to
obtain admissions into all the federal jurisdictions is
minimal and the extra certifications impress employers and
the extra certificates of admission behind your desk impress
clients and give you the appearance of a seasoned attorney.
